21 pupils work at TRIXIE

In the warehouse there is always work to be done: items have to be relabelled, cushions bagged and boxes labelled. A delivery of plush mice needs new packaging and the dog leads need new labels.

The pupils came from schools around Flensburg and were motivated and interested. They came from all age groups between grades 5 and 10.

"We were much faster than the boys' team," the girls told us. But is every label in the right place? Have the cat toys been packed correctly, and did the dog cushions end up in the right box? Of course, the girls did good work. The boys were livelier, but did their job to the full satisfaction of Viola Forst, head of the packing station.

Altogether the girls and boys earned almost 1,000 Euros. And they all had a lot of fun.

The 'Social Day':
For a day pupils exchange their classroom for a place of work and work for a good cause. The money they earn is donated for aid projects in the Balkans – that's the idea behind the 'Social Day'.

The project PUPILS HELP TO LIVE has organized the nationwide 'Social Day' for more than 12 years now – with enormous success. More than 1,100 schools have taken part, hundreds of thousands of pupils donated more than 18 million Euros altogether. With this money PUPILS HELP TO LIVE was able to support 130 projects in fields such as youth work, educational work and work for peace. Numerous volunteers and workers on site guarantee the continuation of the aid projects with their support. The result: numerous youth centres and meeting centres have been established, a training centre for young people opened its doors and various social street programmes were started.
